artist Bob Wygant is often thought of as the mentor for many Western
artists. His paintings were collected by large oil companies, and today it
is difficult to find one that is in a private collection. Having painted
many Texas landscapes featuring cowboys and horses, occasionally he
featured other animals. "Maverick" is one of few
paintings that featured the Texas longhorn.
