In doing this painting, I called upon my experiences as a horse wrangler in the early 50’s near Granby, Colorado. In the summertime, the mornings were cool, the afternoons hot. It was my practice to place my favorite drink in a cold stream each morning, then in the afternoon, when thunderstorms had passed and the weather had turned hot, I’d retrieve my cold brew from the icy stream. In the late 70’s I began the Coors Cowboy Collectors Series with paintings of working cowboys. The series became a must for any authentic western bar. This series was completed in 1984. In 1993 Coors requested I do one additional painting. Since all my paintings had been of men, I choose to paint a Cowgirl in a rain slicker retrieving her favorite brew.
